Toothpic Design Work

When the guys at Toothpic contacted me about design work for their teledentistry company. I thought, what on earth is teledentistry? Then after a brief conversation with their marketing manager Ríona Hegarty I remember thinking wow, I wish I’d come up with that idea!

Teleldentistry is basically is the use of modern telecommunication devices such as tablets and smartphones to provide dental consultation, education and public awareness. Considering that Toothpic are one of the leaders in this revolutionary new field, I jumped at the chance to work with them.

First up on the design list was a whitepaper. The pandemic prevented me from meeting the Toothpic team in person, so we used Slack and Zoom for communication and file exchange. I discussed the project in detail with Ríona, studied their brand guidelines, and within a few days I had completed the first draft as previewed
above and below.

Next, I was asked to create a series of social media graphics including a competition ad
for Facebook and Instagram.

All these images had to be formatted for both Facebook and Instagram portrait
and landscape/square story orientations.

When I finished creating the social media assets. Maurice Gavin, Toothpicks head of project management asked me to take a look at one of Toothpics main presentation decks.

The deck design looked old and didn’t align with any of Toothpics new brand elements. It was my job to take the 48 slides and give them a bit of a facelift, bringing the colours, fonts, typography and icon styles in line with their new brand guidelines. Two examples below.

The final project was to create a short promo video ad for Toothpics Instagram account. The original spec was to create 30 second animated video highlighting the various features of the Toothpic app.

After one or two iterations and some discussion with the marketing team. We changed some of the callouts and shortened the video down to 20 seconds, with a call to action to the Toothpic website at the end. There’s a link below the next image that will bring you to the video on there page.
